When was it established?
South Point High School is an outstanding public high school in Belmont, N.C. It has been accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools since 1974.
The school’s history began in 1962, when Gaston County Schools purchased 27 acres of land for a new high school. In 1963, the first plans were designed for a two-wing facility. In September of 1964, 748 students and 30 teachers returned to “Belmont High School” in its new location; the cafeteria was completed in November.
